Your Boat Won’t Sink

   

  I’m sure most of you have heard the story of Jesus calming a raging storm when He was on a boat with the disciples. This story reminds us to have faith in Jesus even when it doesn’t seem like He’s there.

    In this story Jesus is crossing over the Lake of Galilee with the disciples.  While they were crossing the lake, a big storm came and the disciples were worried their boat was going to sink. Meanwhile, amidst all the chaos, Jesus is sleeping! The disciples woke him up and said, ‘’ Teacher, is it nothing to you that we’re going down?’’Jesus then woke up and simply spoke, and the wind and sea went completely calm. He then said to the disciples, ‘’ Why are you such cowards? Don’t you have any faith at all?’’

    There are so many takeaways from this story, but I think the most important one is that even when you feel like Jesus isn’t there, even when you feel like Jesus has fallen asleep on you and isn’t there to help you this time, He’s right there with you! Jesus didn’t wake up because of the the thunder or the lighting or the water spilling into the boat, He woke up because the disciples cried out to Him! The disciples thought they were alone in their struggle but Jesus awoke and saved them the instant they cried out to Him. So next time you feel like you’re in a sinking boat and think Jesus has left you to fend for yourself, remember that if you just ask for His help, He will never let your boat sink.
