Your Boat Won’t Sink

Image
I’m sure most of you have heard the story of Jesus calming a raging storm when He was on a boat with the disciples. This story reminds us to have faith in Jesus even when it doesn’t seem like He’s there.     In this story Jesus is crossing over the Lake of Galilee with the disciples.  While they were crossing the lake, a big storm came and the disciples were worried their boat was going to sink. Meanwhile, amidst all the chaos, Jesus is sleeping! The disciples woke him up and said, ‘’ Teacher, is it nothing to you that we’re going down?’’Jesus then woke up and simply spoke, and the wind and sea went completely calm. He then said to the disciples, ‘’ Why are you such cowards? Don’t you have any faith at all?’’     There are so many takeaways from this story, but I think the most important one is that even when you feel like Jesus isn’t there, even when you feel like Jesus has fallen asleep on you and isn’t there to help you this time, H...
What is God's Plan for Me? Hi guys. Today I'm writing about you and God's wonderful gift that He put in you! Recently I went to a church camp called 12 Conference. I learned so much about how God loves me and how He put a gift inside all of us, and that we just need to seek Him and open up our gift. My Gift Something that really just hit me hard yesterday was the fact that you are the only you that will ever enter this world again. No one will ever have the same personality as you, the same way of thinking that you do, and most importantly the same gift that God gave you. God created you a certain way and has a certain plan for you. If you take advantage of your gift, you can do amazing things including helping your community, helping your family, or even helping the world to learn God's word or become a better place. Anything you do with your gift will help teach God's word. Even forgiving someone for saying something mean at school, or being kind to peo...
Darianna In the Dominican Republic          This Christmas we decided to sponsor a child in need and we decided to sponsor Darianna! Darianna is an eight year old girl that lives in the Dominican Republic.  Our job is to send out money every month and write her letters teaching her more about God. She wants to be a doctor when she grows up and can't wait to learn how to read! We might even get to go to the Dominican Republic and meet her some day.           This is very important to me because we get to share God's word and give to people in need. I hope Darianna can grow in her relationship with God and pursue her dream of becoming a doctor. I can't wait to receive her next letter and learn more about her.
Thanksgiving          Thanksgiving is a great opportunity to show how thankful you are. It's also a day for turkey and pumpkin pie!           Showing thanks is a must do on Thanksgiving and just in every day life. When you tell someone how grateful you are it shows how much you appreciate them. I know when someone tells me how much I mean to them it makes me feel really good about myself.           This Thanksgiving I realized how grateful I am for my friends. I moved to a new school this year and I already have multiple friends that I know I can always count on. And my friends from my old school will always have my back even if I'm not at their school anymore. I am most grateful for my family! They would do anything for me and I'm so lucky to have them.         I show thankfulness every opportunity I get. Whenever somebody does something for me I say thank you. Simple ev...
New Beginings The first week of school can be hard and overwhelming. For me this was a great week! Since it was my first week at a new school, I was worried, but I made friends, I finished all my homework, and I didn't get lost. Working It    My favorite subject in school is language arts! I love reading and I also love the book we are reading in class!  It's called Charlie Joe Jackson's Guide to Not Reading.  It's about a kid in sixth grade that always finds a way to get out of reading. Something goes wrong in his plans though and he has to figure out a way to not read. We're not done with it yet but it's really good so far. Friends Everyone wants to make friends in school and so far I've made a lot!  I knew a couple of people before I came which really helped. One of them invited me to her birthday party! It was really fun and I feel like I have a good group of friends now. I'm really happy with all the friends I've made and I think ...
Back to School! As most of you know, school is starting! Everyone feels a bit different about it I'm sure! This year is my first year at Laurel Nokomis, so it's  a big change for me. Before School Jitters School can be very stressful for some people and very go with the flow for others. It just depends on YOU! For me it's very in between, but this year is going to be an adjustment. So far I think it's going to be a good one! I've made a lot of friends at my new school so I know I won't be lonely on the first day. It's not all going to be a piece of cake though. I don't know how everything goes at Laurel. Just little things like lunch or specials. It's also a very big school so I don't know where everything is. I know the big stuff like where the cafeteria is or my classroom, so I'm not too worried about that stuff! I think my teacher is going to be really good. She seems like she will hold us to a high standard and push us to be be...

A Trip of Bravery The past 10 days I have been on an exciting family vacation! I was visiting my Dad's side of the family at my Aunt Carol and Uncle Kevin's vacation home at Lake Table Rock in Branson, Missouri. We did a ton of things, and many of them required a lot of bravery and an open mind. Cliff Jumping This was probably one of the scariest things I have ever done! We were out boating and we passed a cliff that a bunch of kids were jumping off of.  Aunt Carol asked me if I wanted to jump off. At first I totally didn't want to , but then I watched some other kids jumping off and I decided that it wasn't that bad. My dad and my sister came with me on the jet ski and I jumped off and swam to the side and climbed on. I decided to do one of the lower platforms since I was a bit nervous.  Before I jumped off I was definitely scared, but I saw the other kids doing it so I knew nothing was going to happen. I took the jump and landed in the water safe and sound. ...
