Thanksgiving Thanksgiving is a great opportunity to show how thankful you are. It's also a day for turkey and pumpkin pie! Showing thanks is a must do on Thanksgiving and just in every day life. When you tell someone how grateful you are it shows how much you appreciate them. I know when someone tells me how much I mean to them it makes me feel really good about myself. This Thanksgiving I realized how grateful I am for my friends. I moved to a new school this year and I already have multiple friends that I know I can always count on. And my friends from my old school will always have my back even if I'm not at their school anymore. I am most grateful for my family! They would do anything for me and I'm so lucky to have them. New Beginings The first week of school can be hard and overwhelming. For me this was a great week! Since it was my first week at a new school, I was worried, but I made friends, I finished all my homework, and I didn't get lost. Working It My favorite subject in school is language arts! I love reading and I also love the book we are reading in class! It's called Charlie Joe Jackson's Guide to Not Reading. It's about a kid in sixth grade that always finds a way to get out of reading. Something goes wrong in his plans though and he has to figure out a way to not read. We're not done with it yet but it's really good so far. Back to School! As most of you know, school is starting! Everyone feels a bit different about it I'm sure! This year is my first year at Laurel Nokomis, so it's a big change for me. Before School Jitters School can be very stressful for some people and very go with the flow for others. It just depends on YOU! For me it's very in between, but this year is going to be an adjustment. So far I think it's going to be a good one! I've made a lot of friends at my new school so I know I won't be lonely on the first day. It's not all going to be a piece of cake though. I don't know how everything goes at Laurel. A Trip of Bravery The past 10 days I have been on an exciting family vacation! I was visiting my Dad's side of the family at my Aunt Carol and Uncle Kevin's vacation home at Lake Table Rock in Branson, Missouri. We did a ton of things, and many of them required a lot of bravery and an open mind. Cliff Jumping This was probably one of the scariest things I have ever done! We were out boating and we passed a cliff that a bunch of kids were jumping off of. Aunt Carol asked me if I wanted to jump off. At first I totally didn't want to , but then I watched some other kids jumping off and I decided that it wasn't that bad. My dad and my sister came with me on the jet ski and I jumped off and swam to the side and climbed on. I decided to do one of the lower platforms since I was a bit nervous. Before I jumped off I was definitely scared, but I saw the other kids doing it so I knew nothing was going to happen. I took the jump and landed in the water safe and sound. ...
Eat, Sleep, Play Volleyball In this post, I want to talk about my favorite sport...volleyball! Volleyball is a fun sport that girls and boys all around the world play! This summer I have done two volleyball camps. I did one at the YMCA and one at the high school. Each camp has helped me work on my skills and helped me gain confidence both on and off the court. How the Game is Played In this game there are 3 moves: bump, set, and spike. Each team gets three hits. First there is a passer and the passer has to bump the ball to the setter. A bump is a motion where you put your arms together, and the ball has to hit the spot in between your wrist and the middle of your arms. Once the ball is passed to the setter, the setter takes his or her hands, puts them in a diamond shape above their head, and sets it to the spiker. Horse Camp! This week I attended Rosaire's Horse Riding Camp! It was a lot of fun and I got to learn how to ride horses! This horse camp didn't just have horses, but it also had a petting zoo with adorable goats and chickens, lots of cute little ponies and an awesome playground! In the mornings, the horses got collected from the field and saddled for riding! We usually do about three or four rotations. During these rotations, about seven people got to walk, trot, and canter around the arena. After your turn, you could play on the playground, go to the petting zoo, or go to the pony workshop. I bet your wondering what the pony workshop is. Well, the pony workshop is where you get to groom the ponies and walk them around so they can eat grass! The ponies can be very stubborn at times, but no matter how stubborn they get they're so cute you can't stay mad at them. Then, at the end of the day you get to ride again, but this time bare back! Pink Hair, Don't Care This post is about some fun ( non permanent ) summer hair! The other day I had a hair dying party! I want to give a shout out to my great hair dresser who did my awesome hair - Dana Arcos! I got to choose between 3 different colors - purple, pink, and blue. Since I love pink and it would work best with my hair color, I chose pink. First, my hair was separated in to different sections. Next, my hair was brushed piece by piece with the pink color, and wrapped in tin foil. Then, I waited about thirty minutes for my color to set. Last, we rinsed out my hair and blow dried it. For a little extra touch, Dana curled my hair to give it some extra wow factor! After that my hair was pink and had a real summery vibe!
